I've got one major complaint with my kitchen.....lighting!!! No matter what work station I decide to do my magic at.....it's always the same problem.....the lighting is coming from BEHIND me.....and not shining onto to the task at hand. I've got a few of those under cabinet lights that help in my itsy bitsy counter area.....but I NEED something over my Big Kahuna counter.....the one which seldom gets used because there is no direct lighting. I've been casually throwing the idea at the Big Boober for him to install some pendant lighting over that countertop.....and I think I've finally gotten him to see the light (no pun intended) that this is a dire necessity!
Since my tastes are ever-evolving.....my current lighting passion is from days gone by.....old timey lighting that you'd see in some wonderful little seaside cottage. Here are a few lights that caught my attention.....
Now I just need to give the Big Boober a fairly sizable nudge to put on his electrician's hat and do it to it!!!

I dont know what your kitchen looks like or this area your talking about but I have seen some woman put lamps on their counter tops. Maybe that would help in the meantime? If theres room I mean.
ReplyDeleteI love the third one. We have the same style over our island and it is great for cooking, slicing and all that good stuff. Thanks Anne for the info, I changed that picture. I thought of doing it, and then forgot, so you reminded me, and I thank you. XO
ReplyDeleteWe gave recessed can lights in our kitchen and I am thinking about buying the pendant lights that install into a can light outlet. If you install the can lights then you can change out the pendants as your taste and the trends change.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the exact look of your kitchen, might have missed it in older posts. However, I love the first fixture and think you should hang in two or three's! Hope your nudge works real soon! How fun to finally get lighting where it's needed! Those sort of things make someone (who's aging, such as me) happy!
ReplyDeleteYears back we had the same lighting problem and came up with a very low-tech solution--suspended a small, pretty lamp from a nail in the wall above the kitchen counter. Better Homes and Gardens was not going to show up for a photo shoot anytime soon, but at least we could see better.
ReplyDeleteLighting is essential, especially for someone who works magic in the kitchen the way you do!
ReplyDeleteYour taste and mine definitely overlap. I adore that old timey feel.
