E A T

Print

I've been ooo'ing and ahhh'ing over all those big-ass letters spelling out EAT.  Problem is.....my pocketbook never warranted me actually purchasing some.....that is until I decided to do something about it!  That doing was me creating my very own set, out of a few inexpensive materials.....and the grand result was me being happier than a clam (can clams be happy)!!!  I LOVE those in yo' face letters whenever I walk into my breakfast nook.....not sure how the Big Boober feels about them, but he'll learn to live with it.....just like everything else I do around here!

You'll Need
  • 23.5" paper mache letters (E, A, T)
  • 1-can gloss enamel spray paint (red)
  • Picture hangers (5)
  • E6000 glue

Spray painting is definitely an outdoors job.....so set up a spot where you'll be out of the wind.

Your eyes aren't deceiving you.....the letters ARE upside down.

Being the ever-lovin' perfectionist, I opted to spray the backside of my letters.  Apply a thin coat.....let dry.  Then give it another thin coat, and let dry.

Once the backside is completely dry (no tackiness), flip all the letters over and apply a thin coat of spray paint to the top and sides.....let dry.  Continue doing this same process for several coats, making sure to dry between coats.  When the can runs out of paint, then you know you're done!

Let the letters sit for several hours (overnight is best) to be sure that they are good and dry!

Apply two hangers to both the E and the T.....you'll only need one hanger for the A.  Measure down 1.5" from the top, and mark with a pen, that way you will be guaranteed that the letter will hang evenly.  Apply a dab of glue to each side of the hanger, and align with your measured mark.  Let the glue dry.

Now you're ready to hang your letters wherever they'll make a smashing impact!!!

I did this whole project for about $35.00, which included the three letters and the spray paint.  The hangers and glue I already had.

The letters can be purchased at Joann.....keep an eye out for a 40% off coupon.....PLUS.....if you're patient, they do go on sale every now and then!
