I can't tell you how much fun it was making these pumpkins!!! Each one took roughly 30 minutes to create.....and the results.....hauntingly spoocktacular!!! I bought the craft pumpkins at the end of the last Halloween season.....so was able to purchase them for pennies.....so keep that in mind. The designs on each pumpkin I found on the internet.....then just printed them out (I adjusted the print size to accommodate each pumpkin). The tree design I cut each of the leaves and tree out with an craft knife.....to simulate a stencil. That was all well and good, and worked nicely.....but in the end, it was a royal pain in the ass. With the crow and letter, I just used a pencil to trace over the design.....MUCH easier and quicker!!!
Decorative Pumpkin
You'll Need
- Craft pumpkin
- Pattern
- Carbon paper -or- graphite paper (see NOTE)
- Pencil
- Paint -or- permanent marker
- Paintbrush (several widths)
- Low tack tape
The first thing you'll need to do is tape a piece of carbon paper over the area where you want your design to be on the pumpkin. Then place your design over that and tape down. Take your time and carefully trace over the design (using a fair amount of pressure).....
Here's what you'll end up with.....it doesn't have to be perfect, because you will be painting over it.....
Now you have a big choice to make.....paint -or- permanent marker. For this particular pumpkin I used black paint.....but you can also use a black permanent marker too.....
Don't worry if you paint outside of the lines.....you can go back later and clean everything up.....
Pumpkin #1 done!!! I like the Colonial feel of this one.....
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this crow!!! Did I mention that I LOVE this one!!!
Had to do a letter F to go along with all the other letter F decorations in my home.....
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and will give one -or- all of these pumpkins a try!!!
***NOTE***
You can get carbon paper from the office supply, but in a pinch, they have graphite paper at art supply stores, which works equally well.
