I've made this shrimp dish too many times to possibly count. What I love about it is the simplicity of the dish.....the minimal cooking time.....and the dive in and eating some good shrimp time!!! I've had this recipe for so long now.....that I'm clueless where it came from.....so to the original chef.....multiple kudos!

Printable Recipe
You'll Need
- 2 pounds shrimp, unpeeled
- 2 (12-ounce) bottles beer -or- a couple of cans will do
- 1 clove garlic, peeled
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Juice of 1/2 lemon -or- a good squirt of bottled lemon juice
Rinse the shrimp, but do not remove the shells.
In a large pot, add the beer, garlic, salt, thyme, bay leaves, celery seed, parsley, cayenne pepper, and the lemon juice. Bring to a boil over high heat.
Once mixture is at the boil, add the shrimp, and return to the boil.
Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2-5 minutes until the shrimp are pink.
Drain and serve with melted butter (if desired, season the butter with lemon juice and hot sauce).
