Decisions.....decisions.....
The winner is.....at least for this year.....
What's absolutely awesome about these seeds is I can either refrigerate them for up to 5 years.....or pop them in the freezer, where they'll last for up to 10 years! What a no-brainer! So this year it's pole beans.....and I'm leaning toward the corn for next year.....but you never know, if I get really good at this farming thing I just may stretch the size of my garden a bit.....get a bit wacky.....and grow a few more veggies. I know, I know.....you're all having fatals about now wondering if I'm touched in the head! I swore after I did the BIG garden a few years back, that I'd never do anything like that again. Perhaps that decision was egged on by the fact I was weeding one day.....stuck my weeder (not me...the tool) in the ground.....and came inside feeling just a tad bit poorly. After eating a WHOLE steak (which is so not me).....I went to bed before the sun even set. Then about one in the morning I nudged the Big Boober with the announcement that we needed to go to the hospital because I think I was having an appendicitis attack. Moving along with this little segue.....it was 2 or 3 months later when I walked back into the garden and saw that little weeder in the same damn spot! That's what gardening can do to you.....make you lose a body part! So the days of having a BIG garden were over. Then some of you may recall that I started gardening again just a couple of years ago in clay pots.....don't forget the Topsy Turvy.....and after a few disasters there, I swore I'd never garden again. Yea right! Well, I've got the Topsy Turvy going.....and as of today, the tomato plant isn't looking too spiffy. The peppers are doing great.....but they're still toddler-size (heh, nothing ever does as intended at the Gulch).....and then there's this.....
Yes, my dear friends.....that's another one of my hare-brained ideas.....teepees! Teepees for my pole beans! I'd like to call this idea a collaboration of sorts between the Big Boober and I.....but, in all honesty.....it's just me saying this is what I want.....and the Big Boober lovingly does it. He's a good bloke though.....the way he looks at it.....he'll reap the rewards when these 3 teepees are chock-a-block full of green beans! I think he's forgotten about my minimal success rate at farming. So here he is with unwanted assistance from Emily.....busting his ass for yours truly.....
There are actually several photos of me planting the seeds.....but I chose not to share them with you.....because my funny hubby took all back door shots of me.....so very unflattering! Honestly though.....there are a LOT of green bean seeds planted.....and being the good girl that I am (cough cough).....I'm watering them diligently, and hope to have some little baby bean plants poking their wee tender heads through the soil in about a week. How exciting!!!
Here's the view from where the Big Boober and I sit on the swing observing our kingdom.....and the teepees.....
Please everyone say an extra little prayer tonight that these wonderful beans grow like the dickens!!!
Thanks again to Hometown Seeds for giving me the opportunity to try out your seeds! Can't wait to sit down in a couple of months with a big ol' bowl of freshly cooked green beans with a big pat of butter melting over the top! YUMM-O!!!
