There's a blog that I started following recently.....it's called Sinful Southern Sweets, and it's truly one of the sweetest food blogs out there. Recently, I got all weak in the knees when I saw her recipe for Honey Bun Cake.....so much so.....that I had to make it ASAP! Without further ado.....

Printable Recipe
You'll Need
- 1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist yellow cake mix
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup half and half
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 cup pecans, finely chopped
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 8 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, add your cream cheese and eggs, and cream until well incorporated. Yes.....you're definitely seeing 5 egg yolks.....but, I only used 4 eggs! I swear.....but, I ALWAYS get a double-yoked egg at least every couple of weeks.....would that be considered lucky? Anyway.....I count a double-yolk egg as one egg.
To the cream cheese mixture, add the oil, half and half, and the cake mix. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Using a no-stick cooking spray, spray a 13"x9" baking dish. Pour the batter into the baking dish, and set aside.
Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans.
Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top of your cake batter.
Drizzle the honey here and there over the top.
Draw a knife through the batter to swirl the filling throughout.
Put the cake into your preheated oven, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Use a toothpick to test for doneness.
Glaze: In a large bowl, add the butter and cream cheese, and cream well.
Add the milk by tablespoonfuls to the cream cheese mixture, and continue mixing until well blended.
Add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla, and continue mixing until well incorporated.
Pour the glaze over the warm cake.....let set for a little while.....then dig in!!!
