I've been busying myself lately making decoupage Christmas wall hangings.....and a few other things which are surprises (don't want to ruin it for the recipients). In all honesty, these were so easy to put together.....the only labor intensive part was cutting away the paper from the wood cut out. So without further ado.....
You'll Need
- Wooden cut outs (I used Christmas trees, snowflakes, and reindeer - all found at Michael's)
- Scrapbooking paper (either Christmasy or whatever catches your eye)
- Embellishments (lots of sparklies)
- Brads (cut off the tabs)
- Acrylic paint (any color your heart desires)
- Distressing ink pad (various colors)
- Stickles (glitter glue)
- Glitter (various colors)
- Gel Medium (I used heavy gloss)
- Liquid Fusion glue
- Clear Acrylic (I prefer the high gloss)
- X-Acto knife (replace blade often)
These Christmas wall hangings are done exactly like I did my Halloween Pumpkins.....so instead of repeating the directions, please click here to get detailed instructions. All of these cut-outs have a pre-drilled hole for hanging.....or you can run a pretty ribbon through the hole for hanging. Please take free reign in decorating your cut-outs to complement your home decor.....but most of all.....just have fun!!!
Here's a glimpse at why the dust has been flying in my workshop.....
This reindeer is in the beginning stages of its transformation.....when all is said and done it'll have wonderful diamondesque embellishments placed here and there. This reindeer is by far my favorite...
I loved the paper I used on this one.....the only thing I'd do different is NOT distress the edges in red (I thought it took away from the paper). I used faux pearls and sparkly red brads...
The photo doesn't do this beautiful shimmery snowflake paper justice. I added glittered snowflake stickers, and some silver glittered brads...
All I used to decorate this reindeer was the Stickles.....then sealed it with 2 coats of the spray acrylic (all of the wall hangings were sealed with 2 coats)...
This tree was a fun one to do! The paper is green with multi-colored polka dots, some of which I covered with pink paint, and then dotted the pink dots with a small black dot. I also added some faux pearls over some of the other polka dots, and on others I put black & white brads. I topped the tree off with a large brad. The base I painted black and added a few pink dots and lines...
This tree I added some faux seed pearls in sets of three here and there.....then added some little plastic snowflakes which I added a dab of silver Stickles to for good measure. I also added a couple of shades of red of the Stickles to simulate holly berries.
I love, love, love this little tree.....polka dots always win my heart. This is just a mish mash of various colors of Stickles, and some large and small glitter brads in a couple of shades of green...
This red snowflake is waiting for some more embellishments.....I think I'll add some silver Stickles to liven up the white snowflakes, and some silver glitter.....then a couple coats of clear acrylic.....and it's ready to be hung...

They look great. My favourite is the first (blue) reindeer. TFS :)
These are just wonderful! I love seeing new twists on tradition decorations :)
These are great! I love Stickles. :) I bought a set of those Christmas trees at Michael's and I think I'll decorate them today. Even though Christmas is 11 months away, I need to do some fun but easy crafty projects!
