Mirror Christmas Ornaments

Print

This past week I decided to make some Christmas ornaments for the tree using several different sizes of mirrors. I found all the supplies that I needed to make 12 ornaments at Hobby Lobby:

You'll Need
  • 6 packages of mirrors (each package has 3 different sizes, and makes 2 ornaments)
  • Silver cording (ribbon or string will work too)
  • Heavy-duty glue (I used E-6000)
You will need 12 strands (10" to 12" long) of silver cording.....

I laid out all the mirrors on a sheet of wax paper (so it all won't stick to your table). You will have a top and bottom of each mirror size for a total of 12 mirrors per ornament. So at this point line up all your mirrors from largest to smallest in a straight row.....

Next I put a drop of glue on the backside of just six of the mirrors. It’s easiest working one ornament at a time.....

Starting at the bottom, lay your cording down onto each mirror, making sure the cord is as centered as possible. This is rather difficult considering how darn sticky the glue is.....

Start placing the matching mirrors on top of the bottom ones, adding just a small dab of glue to the top mirrors to sandwich it all together securely. Everything starts to slide a bit here and there, but be patient, and it will all work out. When you get to the top mirror, make sure you loop a bit of the cording back onto the mirror, then place your top mirror on top of that. Exhale and relax, the first one is done! Now you have eleven more to go.....

Now that that’s all done, recheck the ornaments to make sure everything is lined up to your liking. Now comes the most important part…..LEAVE THEM ALONE…..let them sit overnight to dry completely. When all is said and done you are now ready to hang them on your tree.....

VOILA.....
