Have you ever been out to the stores (at least here in Texas) and seen the framed Texas flags? They are terribly expensive. So why not make one of your own. I found an inexpensive 2'x3' cloth Texas flag on eBay (yea eBay). Then we took 3-4 old weathered fence boards from our fence (of course we replaced them). With that I presented my design to my husband and he joyfully went out to his workshop and cut, sawed, planed, nailed, Gorilla glued (regular Gorilla Glue), had sawdust flying, and voila, there was a completed frame. In the meantime I attached the flag to a sticky foamboard (even with ironing the flag I still couldn't get all the fold lines out). I had to purchase a piece of glass to fit the frame, which was probably the most expensive part of the project. With all those elements in place, Dan put frame, flag, and glass together, and put a thin backerboard on, popped some nails in, and I added the hooks to hang it. There you go, an inexpensive, and I think a very smart looking framed flag.
